Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based cognitive-behavioural therapy that was originally developed for people suffering from ongoing suicidal thoughts, self-harm behaviours, severe emotion dysregulation and in particular for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). It has now been proven to be effective in treating people with a wide range of disorders and problems related to emotion dysregulation and associated cognitive and behavioural patterns.
Searchlight Psychology’s Program for Emotion Regulation consists of 8 weekly 2 hr sessions of group skills training held on Friday’s from 10am to12pm. Numbers are limited to ten participants and our program is set to begin on Friday 14th July 2023 pending confirmation of numbers. Please contact our helpful administration team for information on how to enrol in the DBT-Skills Training (DBT-ST) program. Research has shown that short programs of DBT-ST can result in significant changes in outcomes for depression, anxiety and a range of other problems associated with difficulties in regulating emotions.
Group Skills – Our program consists of Skills Training only which is held once per week for two hours and is facilitated by a trained DBT therapist.
Individual Therapy – Participants can choose to engage in individual therapy on a weekly or fortnightly basis of 50 minutes. You and your individual therapist work collaboratively toward replacing unhelpful behaviours with skilful behaviours to develop a life worth living.
